Stormwater Utility Fund

A special-purpose service unit within the city government that provides stormwater management as required by the Environmental Protection Agency. The Division maintains 5 miles of ditches and canals and 40 miles of stormwater pipes, cleans and repairs catch basins, storm drain pipes, and ditches, and rebuilds or adds new structures as needed.

It is the Mission of the Stormwater Utility to have a proactive inspection program that identifies flood-prone areas, remediates those areas, expands or enlarges existing systems to eliminate the flood areas identified, and improves water quality and quality of life for its residents, where applicable. This mission includes explicitly the requirements of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection's National Pollution Discharge Elimination System Permit and all other mandates as appropriate.
