[00:08:30] Like Clearwater, we looked at establishing a separation requirement between [00:08:35] the uses, and this buffer list is intended to show [00:08:42] these uses would need to maintain a distance between them and [00:08:46] restricted personal service uses. [00:08:50] We looked at where existing restricted personal [00:08:55] service uses are currently located. [00:44:32] This squad was actually out doing a surveillance of a drug activities and [00:44:37] prostitution activities when that call came out. [00:44:39] And literally within 30 seconds or 45 seconds, [00:44:43] they had that suspect stopped out of the car and down on the ground at 19 in Maine. [00:44:48] They've also been focused, working with code enforcement on nuisance abatement [00:44:53] issues, and specifically we have issued code violation notices to the roadway and. [00:45:00] to a property at 6236 Main Street, where we've received in excess of 40 to 60 calls for service. [00:45:08] And we've contacted the property owner and of course the tenants that are there, and [00:45:12] we're going after this very hard. [00:46:08] And through her investigation, she got a solid description of the suspect, a good description [00:46:12] of the suspect vehicle, and really did a great report on it. [00:46:16] That got passed on to the evening shift, and at 9 o'clock that night, Sergeant Trapnell [00:46:21] spotted the vehicle parked in a parking lot at the Illinois Avenue Apartments, which is [00:46:26] 6423 Illinois Avenue. [00:46:29] He and the night shift officers then took turns doing surveillances between other calls [00:46:33] and eventually saw some activity around the vehicle. [00:46:36] And there were two suspects that they were after. [00:46:40] Well those suspects fled, they caught them, and they accomplished a consensual search [00:46:47] which revealed burglary tools, stolen property from the earlier burglaries, and they also [00:46:55] located the earlier witness who positively ID'd the suspects at that time, and posted [00:47:00] Miranda, the defendant, admitted to some of the offenses. [00:47:04] Pasco Sheriff's Office was dealing with the same types of burglaries and fitting a similar [00:47:10] description. [00:47:11] So that shift contacted Pasco, and as a result, they were able to clear a number of burglaries [00:47:18] in their jurisdiction as well. [00:47:21] And to wrap up my comments, I just wanted to make mention of the fact that VFW Post [00:47:27] 6180, which is up there on Osceola Avenue, each year they contact us, and I know they [00:47:33] contacted our Fire Chief, for us to give them nominations, in my case, of an officer. [00:47:41] They give out a Law Enforcement Gold Medal Award, and I nominated, it was a Master Police [00:47:48] Officer, K-9 Officer, Justin Case, because of two incidents that he handled this last [00:47:55] year. [00:47:56] And here in that nomination, while he was a K-9 Officer, and that's when I made the [00:48:02] submission, but we all know that he was a busy K-9 guy, he was out there constantly [00:48:06] making arrests and tracking down with his partner, and the two incidents that triggered [00:48:15] this is that on May 5th, at about 9 o'clock at night, a police officer attempted to stop [00:48:23] a vehicle for a traffic infraction at George Street and Gulf Drive. [00:48:26] It was occupied by four subjects. [00:48:31] They fled the area, a pursuit ensued, and they fled the area, with Officer Case joining [00:48:36] in as a backup officer to the pursuit, he wasn't the primary, he was the backup officer. [00:48:42] And they stayed behind, the vehicle struck a curb at Madison and Gulf, blew out a tire [00:48:46] and kept going, ultimately ended up, all these things happen, a lot of people don't realize [00:48:50] all the activities that the officers are doing. [00:48:53] It ended up coming to rest behind the Carraberry Club on Massachusetts Avenue, and all four [00:48:59] occupants got out of the vehicle. [00:49:02] Corporal Case spotted one of the occupants, went 10-15, he personally arrested that occupant, [00:49:08] went back to his car, got his dog, and caught the other three. [00:49:12] Tracked down and caught the other three. [00:49:14] So that was a significant arrest, and there were all kinds of charges on those subjects. [00:49:21] One subject was wanted for an outstanding warrant, the driver was charged with fleeing [00:49:26] to lewd, and there were other drug-related charges with it. [00:49:30] The second exceptional arrest, which kind of triggered me to make him my nominee, occurred [00:49:35] on August 11th at approximately 5 o'clock in the morning. [00:49:39] Corporal Case and other officers were responding to a robbery that had happened at the Waffle [00:49:43] House. [00:49:44] We had already had, over the previous couple of days, several robberies in that area where [00:49:49] someone displayed a firearm, and one was the liquor store, right there near the Waffle [00:49:53] House, and the other one was another business, it was right in the immediate area. [00:50:03] I'm sorry? [00:50:04] It was the Hookah Tobacco Lounge place, right off the road on 19th. [00:50:06] Yes, yes it was, that lounge. [00:50:10] And Case took up, he had already tried doing a track on the previous incidents, and he [00:50:17] was really puzzled, I could see it on his face when I was talking to him those days, [00:50:21] because he tried to do the track, and it just disappeared in a parking lot. [00:50:24] We saw some tracks in the parking lot, and thought somebody jumped in a vehicle and left. [00:50:29] The third robbery occurs, suspects away from the scene, so Case goes to that general area [00:50:35] and took up a surveillance point. [00:50:42] So he downed that individual, and that person had latex gloves, ski masks, the money that [00:50:50] was stolen, and as a result of Justin's interview with him, he also confessed to the other robberies, [00:50:58] and we cleared all those cases, and absolutely stopped more robberies from happening. [00:51:02] So as a result of that nomination for those activities, he was awarded the Veterans of [00:51:08] Foreign Wars Law Enforcement Gold Medal Award this last Saturday evening.
